Ragnaroc Jumbo Air Plants review

The Ragnaroc Live Jumbo Air Plants are some of the best and biggest air plants you can buy online at an affordable price. Available in singles, doubles, triples and five-packs, these funky plants provide bang for your buck if you buy in multiples. Botanically known as the Tillandsia Xerographica, this air plant has sprawling silvery green leaves, which start wide at the base and get narrow as they curve outward. These are the kind of plants that make a statement wherever you put them, and are especially attractive when hanging.

Finding some of the larger varieties like these can be tough. Many of the air plants in stores or online are just an inch or two in width, which are certainly cute, but don’t fill a space like you might want. These, however, are up to 9 inches wide, making them perfect for nestling on top of your favorite decorative pot or in a hanging basket. If you don’t yet know about the magic of air plants, then this $30 score on Amazon is worth a second look.

These air plants thrive in just about any condition, can fit into even the most dysfunctional pots or canisters, and are lower maintenance than any other houseplant.

Admittedly, I’ve been obsessed with air plants from the moment I saw them. They don’t have roots and need no soil to thrive. I’ve bought air plants online and at specialty shops for years, so I was excited to find these jumbo varieties on Amazon.

But what led me directly to the Ragnaroc Live Air Plants was one of my planters that I could never find the right houseplant for. Unique-looking and round, its shallow depth seemed more decorative than functional. When I searched online for the largest Tillandsia Xerographica I could get to fit the planter’s unusual shape, I came across these. I ordered one to start with, and when it showed up large and beautiful, I plopped it in my hanging planter, and it fit like a glove. SInce then, I’ve ordered these three more times — this time ordering in multiples — both for myself and friends.

Wondering about where to put these plants or how the overall care works? Air plants are native to warm areas like the tropics or even parts of Florida. They even have a reputation of being a bit invasive in hotter climates. The best way to grow these in alternate climates is as an indoor plant with indirect light. You can also put them out on a deck or patio in warmer months, though you’ll want to keep them out of direct, bright sunlight and will need to move them back indoors during cool nights and seasons. For watering, it’s best to put your air plant in a shallow pool of water about once a week, which it’ll greedily soak up. Alternatively, you can use a spray bottle to give it regular (daily or every other day) spritzes of water.

First off, it’s just challenging to find larger air plants. There are plenty of smaller air plants on the market, but it can take a while for them to reach this size. And, if you do find the larger plants, they tend to shoot up in price.

These are a fantastic bargain because, in bulk, you can get each plant for around $10. You might not think you need three to five plants, but air plants are easy to find a spot for because they grow where other plants can’t. If you are limited on space or budget, it pays to buy a bundle with a friend and split them.

I put air plants in the bathroom, on high shelves and in cool, decorative pots that aren’t as simple to use with normal plants. There are so many great uses for air plants, and they can easily turn a blank, ordinary space into something interesting and cheerful.
